EPS Technology
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a lightweight, rigid cellular plastic material composed of 98% air and 2% polystyrene, making it one of the most resource-efficient building materials in the world. At EPS Housing Technology, we manufacture EPS panels through a controlled process of pre-expansion, maturing and molding of polystyrene beads, producing panels of consistent density, strength and thermal performance.
Our core product is the EPS 3D wire mesh panel — a core of expanded polystyrene sandwiched between galvanized steel wire meshes, interconnected by diagonal steel connectors. Once erected on site, the panels are coated with structural concrete (shotcrete or plaster), creating a reinforced sandwich wall that is strong, insulated and fast to build.

Backed by AI-driven quality control and automated production lines, our technology delivers precision at scale — panel after panel, home after home.
Precision Engineering with
Schnell Home Technology
Every panel we produce begins not on the factory floor, but on screen. Using our customized EPS-CAD (SchnellCAD) software, our engineers model each project in detail, generating an optimized panel list, precise Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for polystyrene and steel, and cutting and assembly drawings for the job site.
This digital-first approach eliminates guesswork, minimizes waste and guarantees that what is designed is exactly what is built. From design, production flows through six precision-controlled steps on machinery from our technology partner, Schnell Home:
01. Project Design & BOQ Generation
02. Polystyrene Shaping
03. Wire Straightening
04. Mesh Welding
05. Panel Assembly
06. Quality Control & Special Panels
The result is a prefabricated sandwich panel, ready for shipment to site, where it is finished with plaster or structural concrete depending on the panel type.
Built for
Industrial Scale
Our Standard Pneumatic AP120M delivers real-world productivity of approximately 1,600 m² per 8-hour shift — including loading and unloading time — with a nominal capacity of up to 2,592 m² at 30 cycles per minute using 150 mm connector spacing, the configuration used in internationally certified panels (e.g., ICC-ES, USA). Wider 300 mm spacing can push output even higher.
Ancillary Precision Equipment
- TRG 2D 4MT mesh cutting machine and PRE4/C bending machine — with 4-meter capacity, meshes can be bent along their length as well as width, enabling single-piece corner elements that structurally tie adjoining walls together.
- SGB3 welding bench — quality inspection and manual fabrication of special panels.
- ST4 butt welder — seamless wire joining for continuous production.
Together, this integrated design-to-production chain is what allows EPS Housing Technology to deliver certified, consistent, high-performance panels at the speed and scale East Africa’s housing market demands.
Panel Range
& Specifications
Our EPS construction system is engineered for performance, compliance and simplicity on site.
Below is an overview of our standard panel range and system specifications:
- Wall panels: EPS core thickness of 50 mm – 150 mm; standard panel width 1.2 m; lengths customizable up to 6 m; galvanized steel wire mesh (2.5 mm – 3 mm diameter) on both faces with welded diagonal connectors
- Floor and roof panels: Reinforced EPS slab panels with additional steel truss reinforcement for spanning capability
- Density grades: 15 kg/m³ – 30 kg/m³ depending on structural and thermal requirements
- Finishing: 25 mm – 40 mm sprayed micro-concrete (shotcrete) per face, achieving a finished load-bearing wall of approximately 120 mm – 180 mm
- Fire performance: Flame-retardant EPS grade; finished walls achieve fire resistance ratings suitable for residential and commercial codes
- Thermal conductivity: EPS core at approximately 0.033 – 0.037 W/mK — several times better insulated than brick or concrete block walls
Construction Sequence
The construction sequence is straightforward: foundation and starter bars, panel erection and alignment, service conduits fitted within the panel core, mesh reinforcement at openings and joints, then concrete application and finishing.
A typical three-bedroom house shell can be erected and plastered in a matter of weeks, not months.
All panels are produced under automated, quality-controlled conditions and tested against relevant international standards for density, compressive strength and fire behavior.
